2010 Ranking of World Universities – Sweden’s Top Colleges & Universities

The following outstanding Swedish universities made the popular, well researched “World Universities Ranking” this year.
Karolinska University which is known for playing an active role in the Nobel Prize for Medicine was judged to be the best university in Sweden – but ALSO  the 42nd Best University in the entire world. That is, it placed in the top 500 alongside universities like top English-speaking universities like Oxford and Cambridge (in the USA) and Harvard, Yale and M.I.T. in the United States.
Here are some of the other rankings (note: to help you get some useful info, I’ve included direct links to the international student offices of all these top schools!):
1) Lund University : 106th
3) Royal Institute of Technology , Stockholm: 231st
4) Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (Sveriges Lantbruksuniversitet, SLU), Ultuna, Uppsala: 237th
5) Umeå University : 250th
7) Stockholm School of Economics (Handelshögskolan i Stockholm):346th
Update:
A government official has proposed an upcoming policy that will further give free tuition to students from around the world free tuition if they stay and work in Sweden (which is great because then students can pursue jobs in their fields and get international experience which would look fantastic on their resumes/cv’s when people go back home).
